洋基迎戰金鶯，日籍投手田中將大先發7局好投無用，牛棚九局被金鶯攻下2分，洋基只追回1分，最終以4：5落敗。

這是田中將大首次在洋基主場登板，二局被史庫普(Jonathan Schoop)轟出3分砲，金鶯取得3：0領先，不過洋基在二局下反撲，貝爾川(Carlos Beltran)、強森(Kelly Johnson)先後各回敬1發陽春砲；四局下再添1分把比分追平。

田中將大繼5日遭卡布雷拉(Melky Cabrera)開轟後，第2戰仍難逃挨轟的命運，不過之後他力守城池，用三振來化解危機，四、六、七局都讓金鶯三上三下，沒讓金鶯再得分，總計投7局用了101球、其中71顆好球，被打7支安打失3分，10K、1次四壞球保送，退場時雙方仍是3：3平手，與勝敗無關。
