他球棒揮人：不知那揮這麼重

巴爾的摩金鶯隊馬查多(Manny Machado)9日與運動家隊一役，因為甩棒過大造成雙方板凳清空，10日他為自己的行為向金鶯與運動家隊球迷道歉，表示是自己的情緒失控，另外也特地向被他的球棒揮到的運動家隊捕手諾瑞斯(Derek Norris)致歉。
金鶯與運動家系列戰最後一場比賽，第6局馬查多就發生揮棒過大打到對方捕手諾瑞斯的面罩，導致諾瑞斯提前退場，第8局對方投手阿巴德(Fernando Abad)一次近身球後，馬查多甩棒過猛直接飛到三壘附近，造成雙方板凳清空。儘管馬查多表示甩棒並非故意只是一時手滑，但仍引起眾多批評聲浪，聯盟也可能祭出禁賽處分。
這位21歲的金鶯超級新人，10日為自己的情緒失控向隊友、教練團、聯盟、運動家隊及所有球迷道歉，他另外也向諾瑞斯致歉，「這是令人沮喪的一周，我不知道那一揮有這麼重，這絕非我們應有的打球方式。」
其實7日兩隊系列戰首戰就不平靜，馬查多曾因不滿對手觸殺太用力摔頭盔，當時就引起板凳清空，相隔2天雙方再度出現衝突。
對於馬查多的情緒失控，金鶯總教練瓦特(Buck Showalter)已有被禁賽的心理準備，不過在態度上仍是力挺子弟兵到底，「馬查多現在遭遇到許多從未發生過的事，這是他必須面對的挑戰，我們會盡力幫助他，希望這件事會讓他更堅強。」
