二連敗的洋基隊，晉級季後賽狂拉警報，現在終於有人跳出來當救世主，季中從響尾蛇轉隊來的老將麥卡錫，今天演出賽揚強投般的身手，他完投九局沒有失分，還飆出8次三振，帶領洋基以3:0完封太空人，由於落敗的太空人先發投手庫秋爾（Keuchel）也是完投，讓這場比賽只打了2小時07分就結束，創下新洋基球場的紀錄。

連續兩場敗給太空人的洋基，第三戰不能再輸，肩負重責大任的先發投手，BrandonMcCarthy也沒令大家失望，前五局太空人也只有兩人踏上過壘包，太空人先發投手Keuchel和McCarthy聯手上演一場投手大戰，洋基打者把握機會在三局上半靠著連續三支安打，一舉突破僵局。

在八月份一分打點都沒有的鈴木一朗，終於把握一出局，三壘有人的局面打回他八月的第一分打點，Keuchel主投八局就只失掉三分，表現夠水準，可惜他碰到狀況比他更好的McCarthy，McCarthy獨撐九局，只被打出四支安打飆出八次三振，投出今年個人代表作，洋基終場就以3:0擊敗太空人。

McCarthy拿下第八勝也是本季第一場完封勝，洋基下一場比賽將對上白襪，由小將ShaneGreene先發，持續力拼美聯外卡。（民視新聞綜合報導）
