卡達公開賽 蠻牛開季第一冠

卡達站最後一位鬥牛士Gael Monfils 也無法征服西班牙蠻牛。

一路挺進決賽，Rafael Nadal成為大會最後僅存的種子選手，冠軍戰再以 6-1、6-7 （5）、6-2解決 Monfils。

雖然並未在最佳狀態，Nadal證明自己頂級的身手，2014年第一冠為生涯第61座單打冠軍，自公開賽年代以來的紀錄僅次於1992年退役的阿根廷名將Guillermo Vilas（62）。

「今天的比賽是我覺得開季以來打得最好的一場比賽。」Nadal說，很高興自己在比賽中所展現出來的狀態。

鬥牛失敗的 Monfils，三度打進卡達公開賽冠軍戰，但又一次，回家時沒能帶走冠軍盃，「Rafa就強！球質重！遇到他我總是打得很艱辛。」

Monfils第 一盤23分鐘就宣告失守，只守住1個發球局，第二盤雖強勢回擊扳回一城，決勝盤卻被蠻牛反撲，第5局4個破發點優勢卻未拿下更是士氣大傷，最後宣告敗北。
