在湖人對金塊比賽前，布萊恩（Kobe Bryant）接受媒體訪問，在談到何時能夠復出時仍沒給出具體時間。

雖然本季布萊恩只出賽6場，但這並不能阻止球迷將全明星選票投給他，根據最新計票結果，他獲得723031票、排名西區後衛之首，如此下去，將毫無懸念的成為西區明星隊的先發控衛。

談到能否參加2月中旬的全明星賽時，布萊恩表示很感謝投給他的球迷，但自己不一定能復出，就算復出也不打出精彩的表現。

「我可能不會那麼快就能恢復身手，」布萊恩說：「所以，希望大家多關注像利拉德（Damian Lillard）這樣的年輕球員，他們最應該進全明星賽。」

拓荒者的利拉德現在平均得21.3分，在NBA後衛排名第三，但在全明星選票上卻只排名第八(105880票)。

「如果球迷把你選進全明星，你就應該對球迷表現出感激和尊重，」布萊恩說：「這是一種微妙的平衡，我以前也是年輕球員，所以我很喜歡看到年輕球員好好表現，即使我尊重球迷的選擇。我更希望能看到年輕球員打全明星賽，這是他們應得的。」
